Partner Agreement 2a: Local Public Safety or Emergency Management Agency Local Public Safety or Emergency Management Agency Partner Agreement Below is a signature representing the head of our local community -based public s agency or emergency management agency (i.e. Emergency Management Servi Fire Department) agreeing to the roles and the responsibilities outlined below: Agency: Fort Worth Emergency Management Office T11 Attested byeSignature:� Title: Description of roles and responsibilities in improving and strengthening emergency management plans at Fort Worth ISD and school -building levels and a description of the partner's commitment to the continuation and continuous improvement of emergency management plans at the Fort Worth ISD and school building levels: The Fort Worth Emergenc�Management Office and Fort Worth ISD have an excellent ongoing working relationship that involves primarily training, information and support for emergency management functions at the district. As a part of this grant, the Fort Worth Emergency Management Office and Fort Worth ISD plan the following roles and responsibilities: 1. Fort Worth ISD will consult with the Fort Worth Emergency Management Office in the development and annual update of emergency management plans to standardize response and ensure seamless coordination with City services. 2. Fort Worth Fire Emergency Management professionals may consult with Fort Worth ISD in the preparation of crisis plans and development under afee-for-service arrangement to be approved by governing bodies of both entities. 3. Fort Worth Emergency Management Office will participate with providing information and support for hazard assessments in and around Fort Worth ISD schools and facilities, especially related to citing of urban gas wells and the creation of a more extensive contingency plan for gas well incident management. 4. Fort Worth Emergency Management Office will provide special input in the emergency planning process to pre -planning for severe weather and large-scale flooding events. M&C Review Page 1 of 2 Official sfte ofi the City of Fort 4�Iorth, "i�exas DATE: 2/9/2010 REFERENCE NO.: G-16839 LOG NAME: 12FWISD EM GRANT CODE: G TYPE: NON -CONSENT PUBLIC NO HEARING: SUBJECT: Authorize the Mayor, the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the Emergency Management Coordinator to Sign Local Government Partner Agreements Required for the Fort Worth Independent School District to Apply for a Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Grant from the United States Department of Education RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the Mayor, the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the Emergency Management Coordinator to sign Local Government Partner Agreements required for the Fort Worth Independent School District to apply for a Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Grant from the United States Department of Education. DISCUSSION: The United States Department of Education (DOE) provides grant funds for the purpose of strengthening schools emergency management plans. The Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) is applying for a Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Grant from the DOE. The goal of the grant is to ensure that FWISD staff is trained in emergency management procedures and collaborates with community partners, including law enforcement, public safety, public health, mental health agencies and local government. The grant application requires separate acknowledgments in the form of Local Government Partner Agreements signed by the Mayor, the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the City's Emergency Management Coordinator to show the City's commitment to work with the FWISD in improving and strengthening the FWISD emergency management plans.
