COUNCIL ACTION: Approved on 2/23/2010
DATE: 2/23/2010 REFERENCE NO • **G-16847 LOG NAME: 2020QZSYCAMORE
CODE: G TYPE: CONSENT PUBLIC NO
HEARING:
SUBJECT: Authorize the Establishment of Quiet Zones at the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing at
Sycamore School Road, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Crossing at Sycamore
School Road and Tnnity Railway Express Crossing at Bell Spur (COUNCIL DISTRICTS 5
and 6)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to sign a Notice of Quiet Zone
Establishment for the creation of new quiet zones at these three ra'iroad crossings: Union Pacific
Railroad at Sycamore School Road; Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway at Sycamore
School Road and Tnnity Railway Express at Bell Spur.

The Transportation and Public Works Department proposes to create quiet zones under the Federal

BNSF Railway Crossing at Sycamore School Road
Trinity Railway Express Crossing at Bell Spur
These quite zones will be effective in March 2010 upon completion of minor roadway improvements

Road quiet zone project under the North Central Texas Council of Government's (NCTCOG) Railroad
Crossing Reliability Partnership Program with a 20 percent local match.
The Bell Spur quiet zone requires no construction cost.
The Sycamore School Road quiet zones are located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 6.
The Bell Spur quiet zone is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 5.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Financial Management Services Director certifies that this action will have no material effect on
