HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996/01/23-Minutes-Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation (FWHFC) ,f t MINUTES OF THE FORT WORTH HOUSING FINANCE CORPORATION PRE-COUNCIL CHAMBERS TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1996 12:00 NOON Corporation Board Members Present: Eugene McCray, President; Bill Meadows, Vice-President; Jim Lane, Secretary; Jewel Woods, Treasurer; Becky Haskin, Kenneth Barr and Virginia Nell Webber. Chuck Silcox was absent. The meeting was called to order by the President. Anaroval of Previous Minutes Mr. Lane made a motion that the minutes of October 17, 1995 be approved. Mr. Barr seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. Review of Housing Programs in the City of Fort Worth Mr. Jerome Walker, Director of Housing for the City of Fort Worth discussed the Affordable Housing Program and In-fill Housing in detail. A copy of the printed material on these programs is on file with these minutes. Mr. Meadows left the meeting at 12:30 p.m. Action Item: Approval of Proposal for the FWHFC to undertake Housing Development: After discussion by the Housing Director, Mr. Barr made a motion that the City of Fort Worth build and sell homes in designated areas. The motion was seconded by Mr, Lane, and the motion carried unanimously. MINUTES OF THE FORT WORTH HOUSING FINANCE CORPORATION JANUARY 23, 1996 Page 2 The board discussed "in-fill" housing briefly, and Ms. Webber said that she felt that staff needed the board to give them direction. She said that the manufactured housing seen by three of the board members in Kansas the previous week would provide an economic benefit through the jobs it would provide, as well as needed housing. City Manager Terrell and the Board discussed this matter briefly, with Mr. Terrell stating that all along the staff had said that housing was just a by-product of this effort. He said that HUD considered this an economic development issue. He said that the City needed to create sustainable jobs. After further discussion, Mr. Lane made a motion for staff to proceed to negotiate with McAfee on manufactured housing. Mr. Barr seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously.
