HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 429 RRMeDI - Ti FUX NO. -� lai Resolution WHEREAS, the needs of the citizens and taxpayers are best served by those employees who are physically capable of performing the jobs for which they are hired, and WHEREAS, the best hiring practices necessitate inquiring into an applicant's previous employment history, including on-the-job injuries, and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth as an employer should have the right to question prospective employees and make employment decisions on the answers given, and WHEREAS, S.B. 356 would prohibit any employer from denying employment based upon the answers of a prospective employee, and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth as an employer should have the right to expect truthful answers to questions asked of prospective employees, and WHEREAS, S.B. 356 would encourage untruthful answers and protect the perpetrators of deception from discharge, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fort Worth opposes enactment of S.B. 356 or any law prohibiting employers from denying employment to an applicant based on the applicant's answer to the question: "Have you ever filed a claim for workmen's compensation benefits?"
