A Re�olut�on
WHEREAS, there has been introduced into the legislature companion bills
identified as Senate Bill No. 412 and House Bill No. 770 known as "The
Ready Mixed Concrete Vehicle Weight Improvement Bill", and;
WHEREAS, this legislation, supported by the Texas Aggregates and
Concrete Association, would increase the allowable load limits for
ready mixed concrete trucks substantially above the present legal
limits, and;
WHEREAS, more than 70 per cent of the total mileage of streets within
the city are light-duty residential streets, and;
WHEREAS, the proposed increased limits would create substantial damage
and deterioration to the existing street system requiring much heavier
expenditures for street maintenance and reconstruction, and;
WHEREAS, such increased load limits would require further that all new
pavements be designed to thicker sections and higher standards than at
present, and;

WHEREAS, these increased costs of street maintenance, reconstruction,
and new construction would be borne by the taxpayers and the motoring
public of this state for the benefit of a few;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fort
Worth;
1. That this Council is in opposition to the provisions of
Senate Bill No. 412 and House Bill No. 770; and,
2. That the City Manager is instructed to advise all members
of the Tarrant County legislative delegation of the action
of this Council and request their support in the defeat of
this legislation.
