The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication and the attached ordinances is to take actions to effect the adopted fiscal year 2021
(FY2021)budget for the Fire Department.
Adoption of the first ordinance will revise civil service staffing in the Fire Department to reflect staffing changes included in the FY2021 budget due
to the opening of a new fire station. The City's adopted FY2021 budget includes funding for the addition of fourteen positions in the Fire
Department, all of which are civil service. These new positions will enable staffing of the new Fire Station 45 in Fort Worth, with the added
positions consisting of one Captain, two Lieutenants, three Engineers, and eight Firefighters.
The last adopted staffing ordinance for the Fire Department prior to FY2021 (Ordinance 23870-09-2019)prescribed an authorized strength of
939.The adoption of the first ordinance will increase authorized civil service strength to 953.
Approval of the ordinance would result in new authorized civil service staffing levels as follows:

Deputy 6 6
