SUBJECT:
Adopt and Amend City Ordinance No. 15864 as Previously Amended, to Reflect a Name Change
from Classic Acquisition Corp., d/b/a Yellow Checker Shuttle to Classic Acquisition Corp., d/b/a Go
Yellow Checker Shuttle
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt and amend City Ordinance No. 15864 as previously
amended, to reflect a name change from Classic Acquisition Corp., d/b/a Yellow Checker Shuttle to Classic
Acquisition Corp., d/b/a Go Yellow Checker Shuttle.
DISCUSSION:
On January 13, 2004, Classic Acquisition Corp., d/b/a Yellow Checker Shuttle made application for
authority to operate a shuttle service within the City of Fort Worth. On February 10, 2004, the City Council
(via M&C G-14254) adopted Ordinance No. 15864 granting operating authority to Classic Acquisition Corp.
d/b/a Yellow Checker Shuttle to operate a shuttle service in Fort Worth. On November 8, 2005, the City
Council (via M&C G-14997) amended the original ordinance to increase the number of authorized vehicles
from 40 to 75. Classic Acquisition Corp. d/b/a Yellow Checker Shuttle is in compliance with the City's
requirements.
On June 25, 2007, City staff received a request from Mr. Jeff Finkel, President of Classic Acquisition Corp.,
to allow a name change to the operating authority ordinance.
The City Council is asked to approve the name change from Yellow Checker Shuttle to Go Yellow Checker
Shuttle. The request pertains only to the d/b/a Yellow Checker Shuttle name, as the corporation name,
Classic Acquisition Corporation will remain the same.
A request to change the color of the shuttles to a solid white with company markings in green has been
submitted to the City's Ground Transportation Coordinator, who is responsible for reviewing the uniform
paint scheme of each shuttle vehicle operating on a regularly scheduled basis.
Staff has no objections to Classic Acquisition Corp.'s name change, and will insure that all terms and
conditions follow the standards of City of Fort Worth Vehicle for Hire Ordinance.
