The contractor,Renda Environmental,Inc.will remove the grit material from the tanks with a combination of pumps, conveyors and motor cranes using a clam-shell bucket. The grit material will be pumped and or conveyed into dump trucks and the material will be hauled to a City designated location within the Sludge Only Landfill. Samples of the grit material will be collected several times each day that the grit material is removed. The samples will be dried using a certified mirco-wave analyzer to determine the solids content(percent solids)of the grit material. The dump trucks used in the grit removal operation will be weighed prior to grit removal operations on certified weight scales and a"tare weight"established for each truck. Each dump truck will be weighed and a load ticket will be generated showing the date, the truck number and the total weight of the truck and material. The"dry tons"per truck will be determined by taking the average percent solids for any particular day and multiplying the average percent solids by the load ticket(total weight of the truck and material)minus the"tare weight"of the truck.Payment for the liquid storage tank cleaning,at the reduced price of$121.90 per dry ton, will be processed through the normal pay estimate process with a new line item added to the pay estimate form to reflect the difference in price per ton.
