DISCUSSION:
The Adopt-A-Street Program is a litter reduction campaign designed to help remove litter and debris from
City roads and improve the quality of our environment. The program offers individual citizens, schools, civic
organizations, community groups and businesses the opportunity to demonstrate their desire for a cleaner
community by taking control of their streets and keeping them litter free. The Adopt-A-Street Program will
assist the city in meeting its "Cleaner and More Attractive City" strategic goal while providing citizens the
opportunity to be actively involved in improving their neighborhoods.
Groups interested in adopting a street will select a %4 mile to 2 mile section of street to adopt. If the selected
section of street is approved, the group pledges to clean the street at least once a quarter for a year. A sign
will be erected after the first cleanup to acknowledge the group's work.
The Adopt-A-Street Program is a collaborative effort between the Code Compliance, Environmental
Management and Transportation and Public Works Departments. Code Compliance will provide program
coordination, Environmental Management will provide garbage bags and trash disposal, and TPW will
provide signs and safety review.
The Keep America Beautiful (KAB)/Anheuser-Busch Environmental Grants program is designed to create
sustainable programs and partnerships. The partnership formed between Keep Fort Worth Beautiful (KAB
affiliate) and Ben E. Keith Distributors (Anheuser-Busch wholesaler) through this grant will effectively
address community litter issues.
The request for $9,990.00 will fund adopt-a-street signs, garbage bags, gloves and safety vests.
