A RESOLUTION URGING THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO CONTINUE
ITS LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES ON THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH TURNPIKE-
INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 30; TO BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE AND
APPROVAL.
WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Public Safety has provided the citizens
of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area excellent law enforcement
services along the Dallas-Fort Worth Turnpike; and
WHEREAS, The State of Texas will assume complete operation maintenance
and control of the Dallas-Fort Worth Turnpike-Interstate 30, January 1,
1978 and its function -as a toll road will cease; and
WHEREAS, Due to very limited access to the said highway in Fort Worth,
law enforcement and police protection wj.11 be difficult for the City
of Fort Worth Police Department;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
I.
That the Texas Department of Public Safety is hereby requested and
urged to continue its law enforcement and patrol of Interstate Highway
30 between Dallas and Fort Worth from and after January 1, 1978.
II.
That the Cities of Arlington and Dallas are urged to join in this
request to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
III.
That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Cities of Arlington and
Dallas and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
IV.
That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval.
