A Resolution
RESOLUTION
Whereas, the former Dallas/Fort Worth Turnpike
became a free facility on December 31,
1977; and
Whereas, the operation and maintenance of the
facility was assumed by the State
Department of Highways and Public
Transportation on January 1, 1978; and
Whereas, upon becoming free, the facility was
assigned as part of the Interstate
System and carries the I-30 desig-
nation; and
Whereas, I-30 provides a vital and integral part
of the transportation system within the
Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area;
and
Whereas, the 1-30 facility presently carries some
50,000 vehicles per day between the
cities of Fort Worth and Dallas; and
Whereas, limited access to the facility has, in
the past, limited development adjacent
to the I-30; and I
Whereas, provisions have only been made for
freeway courtesy patrols between 1-35W
and I-820; and
Whereas, a critical need now exists to provide
emergency services to motorists between
1-820 and Dallas; and
Whereas, limited resources presently prohibit the
extension of existing service to include
the section of freeway between I-820
and Dallas.
Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the City
Council of the City of Fort Worth,
Texas:
