HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 520 NQ A Resolution RESOLUTION Whereas, the former Dallas/Fort Worth Turnpike became a free facility on December 31, 1977; and Whereas, the operation and maintenance of the facility was assumed by the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation on January 1, 1978; and Whereas, upon becoming free, the facility was assigned as part of the Interstate System and carries the I-30 desig- nation; and Whereas, I-30 provides a vital and integral part of the transportation system within the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area; and Whereas, the 1-30 facility presently carries some 50,000 vehicles per day between the cities of Fort Worth and Dallas; and Whereas, limited access to the facility has, in the past, limited development adjacent to the I-30; and I Whereas, provisions have only been made for freeway courtesy patrols between 1-35W and I-820; and Whereas, a critical need now exists to provide emergency services to motorists between 1-820 and Dallas; and Whereas, limited resources presently prohibit the extension of existing service to include the section of freeway between I-820 and Dallas. Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas: O CITY of FORT NORTH That the City of Fort Worth, Texas recognizes the need for extending the freeway courtesy patrol to include all portions of 1-30 between Fort Worth and Dallas; and That the City of Fort Worth, Texas strongly urges the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation Commission to provide additional, available re- sources to extend the freeway courtesy patrol between 1-820 and Dallas; and That this motion be in effect immediately upon its adoption.
