A Resolutio - WHEREAS, the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission is 3 responsible for the fair and equitable distribution of all highway construction funds throughout the State; and WHEREAS, the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission di- ' rected the preparation of a comprehensive, 20-Year Highway Development and Control Plan; and WHEREAS, the 20-Year Highway Development and Control Plan reflects the anticipated State funding established from House Bill Number 3, passed by the 65th Texas Legislature, and a continuation of federal funding; and WHEREAS, the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission adop- ted the current 20-Year Development and Control Plan by Minute Order 73795 on December 14, 1977; and WHEREAS, the 20-Year .Development and Control Plan does not include all necessary and essential projects in the Fort Worth area; and WHEREAS, no projects presently included in the Plan appear to be unnecessary and deletable; and WHEREAS, no additional projects, without additional funding, can be added to the Plan. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: THAT the City of Fort Worth, Texas hereby commends the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission for its adoption of the 20- Year Highway Development and Control Plan. THAT the City of Fort Worth, Texas requests as additional funds may be' made available, that the State Highway and Public Transporta- tion Commission advance the Northside-Southside Freeway (SH-121) from IH-35W and SH-199 from the ten year advanced planning schedule (second ten year period) to the five year development schedule (second five year period); and add the portion of the Northside-Southwest Freeway (SH-121) between SH-199 and IH-Loop 820 to the ten year advanced planning. schedule (second ten year period). 13 rrvv f1F FART WORTH THAT the City strongly urges the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission to declare the reconstruction of the IH-30 (old Fort Worth-Dallas Turnpike) and IH-Loop 820 Interchange a significant public necessity and emergency and direct the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation to proceed with all due haste in securing federal approval and and funding assistance for the project. THAT the City strongly urges the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission to direct the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation to proceed with a comprehensive, long- range study of the IH-30 corridor-between Fort Worth and Dallas which is fully coordinated with all directly affected governmental bodies. THAT the City of Fort Worth is willing to contract with the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission in connection with mutually agreeable improvements of any portion of •IH-30 within the Fort Worth city limits and to pay up to $557,011 toward the cost of such improvements.
