' ADVISORY BOARD CONCERNING MEADOWS WEST
On September 5, 1978, the Park and Recreation Advisory Board passed the
following resolution:
RESOLVED, that the Park and Recreation Advisory Board
expresses its outrage at the destruction of numerous trees and
other natural vegetation in the 17.24 acre tract adjacent to
the Meadows West Development as a result of the clearing of
land for construction of power lines which was done in spite of
agreements by the developers of Meadows West that this property
would be deeded to the City in its natural state for use as a
park.
RESOLVED, FURTHER that the Park and Recreation Advisory
Board requests the City Council to take immediate action to
pursue all avenues of redress, including such legal action as
the City Attorney may recommend, to compensate the citizens of
Fort Worth for the loss suffered as a result of this unconscionable
act, including the prompt restoration of the areas to its natural
state.
RESOLVED, FURTHER that the Park and Recreation Advisory
Board requests the City Council to initiate action to establish
administrative safeguards against the recurrence of such a
catastrophe, including the identification of projected park and
greenbelt areas and the coordination of subsequent development
in areas so identified with all affected parties.
