A Resolution
FOR TEMPORARY ESTABLISHMENT OF A REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, mobility for all Fort Worth citizens, which must include
alternatives to the private passenger motor vehicle, is essential to the
continued growth and maintenance of economic vitality of the City of Fort Worth;
and
WHEREAS, Article 1118y, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, as amended by
the Sixty-Seventh Legislature, permits the creation of a regional transportation
authority in metropolitan areas; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council desires to initiate a Regional
Transportation Authority in the Fort Worth metropolitan area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fort Worth:
1. In accordance with the Act, the City of Fort Worth hereby
initiates the process of creating a regional transportation
authority (the "Authority") for the Fort Worth metropolitan
area; and
2. The eligible territory within the boundaries of the proposed
Authority to be included in the Fort Worth sub-region shall
initially encompass all of the territory within the boundaries
of Tarrant County including all of the unincorporated areas;
and including the cities of Arlington, Azle, Bedford, Benbrook,
Blue Mound, Briar, Colleyville, Crowley, Dalworthington Gardens,
Edgecliff Village, Euless, Everman, Forest Hill, Fort Worth,
Grapevine, Haltom City, Haslet, Hurst, Keller, Kennedale,
Lakeside, Lake Worth, Mansfield, North Richland Hills, Pantego,
Richland Hills, River Oaks, Saginaw, Sansom Park, Southlake,
Watauga, Westlake, Westover Hills, Westworth Village, and White
Settlement; and the City of Burleson; and
3. The Fort Worth City Council will hold public hearings on the
proposal to create the Authority on Tuesday, January 19, 1982,
at 2:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers at
1000 Throckmorton Street. Any interested person may appear
and offer evidence concerning the boundaries and creation of
the Authority, operation of a regional transportation system,
and whether creation of an authority would be of public
utility and in the public interest as well as any other facts
bearing upon the creation of an authority .
