COUNCIL ACTION: Approved on 11/6/2007 -Ordinance No. 17869-11-2007
DATE: Tuesday, November 06, 2007
LOG NAME: 06SN-07-004
REFERENCE NO.: PZ-2756
SUBJECT:
Adopt an Ordinance Changing the Name of a Portion of North Riverside Drive to Mercantile Drive,
Located Adjacent to Block 6, Northern Cross Addition Fort Worth, Texas
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt an ordinance changing the name of a portion of North
Riverside Drive to Mercantile Drive, located adjacent to Block 6, Northern Cross Addition, from the northern
property line of Lot 4, Block 5, Mercantile Center Addition to its intersection with Northern Cross Boulevard.
DISCUSSION:
Mr. Hal Hardister, representing Mercantile Partners, has requested a street name change for a portion of
North Riverside Drive south of Northern Cross Boulevard. The proposed street name change was
requested by the Fort Worth Fire Department. It will allow for the transition from Mercantile Drive to North
Riverside Drive to occur at its intersection with Norhem Cross Boulevard instead of mid-block. A map of the
area is attached as Exhibit A.
The applicant submitted the request for street name change in September 2007.
The Fire Department supports this street name change request.
The Transportation and Public Works Department states that the applicant's cost for changing and installing
new street name signs will be $245.00.
Pursuant to Texas state statute, a public hearing must precede the ordinance adoption of the proposed
change. Notice to affected property owners along both sides of the street being changed was mailed on
October 5, 2007. A copy of the notice is attached as Exhibit B.
The proposed street name change lies within COUNCIL DISTRICT 4.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Finance Director certifies that this action will have no material effect on City funds.
