He also mantlatetl the concrete thickness be increased to 8" instead of 6" as was shown on the plans. The plan typical pavement section shows the removal of 4" of Asphalt pavement. DATE: CODE: SUBJECT: Qffiriai site of the City of Fort Worth, Texas FO�.� t� 20GARDEN ACRES BRIDGE CONSTR- MCCLENDON C TYPE: CONSENT PUBLtC NO HEARING: Authorize Execution of a Contract with McClendon Construction Co., Inc., in the Amount af $306,265.50 for Paving, Pavement Markings and Temporary Traffic Signal improvements for Garden Acres Bridge at Interstate 35W Phase !, Utilizing Funds from the 2008 Capital Improvements Program to Provide for Construction Contract Casts, Contingencies and Const�uction Services for a Project Total in the Amount of $371,265.50 (COUNCIL DISTRICTS 6 and 8) � RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authori�e execution of a contract with McClendon Construction Co., Inc., in the amount of $306,265.50 for paving, striping and traffic signal '"' improvements for Garden Acres Bridge at Interstate 3�W Phase I. „ DISCUSSION: The 2008 Capital Imp�ovements Program included funds for the engineering design and construction of Phase I of the Garden Acres Drive Bridge over Interstate 35W. The scope of this phase includes � the installation of traffic operational improvements to the existing Garden Acres Bridge at Interstate 35W intersection to reduce cangestion while a second bridge is being designed and that will be built at a later date. The operational improvem�nts wi(I include pavement work, pavement markings and temporary traffic signals. � The project was advertised for bid in the Fort Worth Star-Telearam on July 5, 2012 and July 12, 2012. The following responsive bids were received on August 2, 2012: "" BIDDERS McCiendon Construction Company Gibson and Associates G � BID AMOUNT $306,265.50 $340,148.40 Staff recommends that the low bid in the amount of $306,265.50 as submitted by McC(endon Construction Co., Inc., be selected and a contract awarded. In addition, $65,000.00 are �equested for contingencies and construction services including surveying, mate�ial testing and construction inspection. McC(endon Construction Co., Inc., is in compliance with the City's BDE Ordinance by committing to �"' six percent MBE participation and docurnenting good faith effort. McClendon Construction Co., lnc., ideniified several subcontracting and supplie� opportunities. However, the M6E contracted ir� the areas identified did not submit the lowest bids.
