The Park & Recreation Department (PARD) is responsible for mowing parks and other public properties. Listed below are the categories, units, budgeted service frequencies and modes of service delivery. CATEGORY # UNITS FREQUENCY* RESPONSIBLE TO MAINTAIN Parks 291 (3,245 acres) 14/21 days Contract and park staff Traffic dividers 298 (220 miles) 14/21 days Contract Right-of-ways (ROWs) 501 (327 miles) 14/21 days Contract Corner clips 217 (9.7 acres) 14/21 days Contract Other Properties 54 (103.17 acres) 14/21 days Contract and park staff Round-a-bouts 30 (5.6 acres) 14/21 days Contract *14-day mow cycles during peak growing season and 21 day during non-peak grow season Due to above normal rainfall in May mowing cycles have been delayed by 1-3 weeks and both staff and contractors are working to catch up. This includes the use of"hot spot" contractors and staff overtime. In addition, the heavy rainfall combined with warmer temperatures has resulted in taller vegetative conditions in between mowing's increasing the time needed to complete a mowing. Barring additional heavy rain's staff anticipates that mowing cycles with be caught up in the next 2-4 weeks.
