(COUNCIL DISTRICT 7) RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the removal of South Blue Mound Bridge from the scope of City Secretary Contract No. 46441 with Gibson & Associates, Inc. DISCUSSION: On January 6, 2015 (M&C C-27138), the City Council awarded City Secretary Contract No. 46441 in the amount of $695,348.77 to Gibson & Associates, Inc., for Bridge Repair and Rehabilitation at Multiple Locations throughout the City of Fort Worth. As the contract progressed, it became apparent that South Blue Mound Road Bridge would require significantly more work and expense than was originally planned and budgeted. As a result, Staff recommends removal of this bridge from the scope of this contract. The City and the Texas Department of Transportation have entered into an Advanced Funding Agreement (M&C C-27010, City Secretary No. 46550) in the amount of $1,178,720.00, with City participation waived, for TXDOT to completely reconstruct this bridge instead of the originally planned rehabilitation work. Staff will prepare Change Order No. 1 to remove the South Blue Mound Road bridge from the project scope and which will also provide additional funding for deck repair at North University Drive bridge and to balance pay items in the contract as shown in the table, below. It was discovered after removal of existing overlay that North University bridge deck needed extensive repair work prior to placement of proposed epoxy overlay. Project budget is as follows: In addition to the change order amount, $10,000.00 is required for project management, inspection and material testing.
