CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION MEETING

With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Parker called the Fort
Worth City Council Work Session to order at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, in
City Council Conference Room 2020 of the Fort Worth City Hall, 200 Texas Street, Fort
Worth, Texas.
1. Report of the City Manager - David Cooke, City Manager
a. Changes to the City Council Agenda
There were no changes.
b. Upcoming and Recent Events
City Manager Cooke announced the following:
The Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation will meet at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, June
23, 2021, and the Fort Worth Local Development Corporation will meet at 2:30 pm,
Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Both meetings will be in Council Conference Room 2020.

City Hall will be closed July 5, 2021 in observance of the July 4th Holiday. The
Council is on break in July. The next meeting will be August 3, 2021.
Mr. Cooke offered tours of the new City Hall building for the new members.
c. Organizational Updates and Employee Recognition(s)
Victor Turner, Neighborhood Services Director, announced that Neighborhood
Services received the 2021 John Sasso National Community Development Week
Award. IT was presented at the 2021 NCDA Virtual Annual Conference on June 18,
2021.
Jay Chapa, Assistant City Manager, introduced Dianna Giordano, the new Human
Resources Director.

and Community Development Grant Funds—Victor Turner and Sharon Burkley,

9. City Council Requests for Future Agenda Items and/or Reports
Council Member Crain - Drowning statistics and how we balance homeowner rights and
drowning prevention efforts in neighborhoods.
Council Member Flores - Regulation of BYOB clubs; Options on Redistricting - other
law firms.
Council Member Williams -Water Meter update.
Council Members Moon and Nettles - 911 Update.
Council Member Moon - Management processes to avoid surprises - recognizing
successes and needs; 5G - City owing it as a utility; Work Session agenda process.
Council Member Bivens - Programs to deter crime and how do we determine
effectiveness; speed humps; Public Engagement and identifying partners; presentation on
the role of the Neighborhood Police Officer.
Council Member Nettles - Juneteenth as a City holiday/Opal Lee Day.
Mayor Parker - Electric grid issues and communication; retaining top talent in a post
COVID world; meeting schedule moving forward; youth focused Community Centers;
coordination with the County and other cities on the use of ARPA funds.

There being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Parker
