Gonzales, Acting City Secretary With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Parker called the City Council Work Session of the Fort Worth City Council to order 3:01 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in City Council Conference Room 2020 of the Fort Worth City Hall, 200 Texas Street, Fort Worth, Texas. 1. Report of the City Manager - David Cooke, City Manager a. Changes to the City Council Agenda M&C 21-0544 will be removed from Consent Agenda for individual consideration. b. Upcoming and Recent Events City Manager Cooke announced: • Open House schedule: August 12, 2021, from 6-8 p.m., at Heritage Church of Christ, 4201 Heritage Trace Parkway; August 14, 2021, at 10 a.m., at R.D. Evans Community Center Gym, 3242 Lackland Road; and August 19, from 6-8 p.m., at Doxology Church, 4805 Arborlawn Drive. Individuals can meet city staff and learn how to get involved. No. 4014 will leave the Steam Shop in Cheyenne Wyoming, August 5, making brief whistle -stops in communities across Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. Locomotive will be on display in Fort Worth on August 14th. • Grand Opening Ceremony of the Park and Recreation Service Center August 13, 2021, at 10 a.m. Located at 5199 James Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76115. c. Organizational Updates and Employee Recognition(s) • David called on Manya Shorr, Library Director, to announce the Grand Opening of Fort Worth's first youth Library, Reby Cary Library, on August 14, 2021, beginning at 9:30 a.m. • City Manager Cooke called on Assistant City Manager Valerie Washington to inform the Council of an event that occurred on July 16, 2021, while serving a warrant for mowing grass at a city residence. She recognized Brandon Bennett, Code Compliance Director, who advised of quick thinking of Code Officers, Police Officers, and employees of the mowing contractor, when a weapon was fired from the second floor of the residence. Mr. Bennett recognized the following individuals: Code Officers - Sr. Officer Cutter Thompson and Officer Kenneth Mendez; Police Officers - Rafael "Ralph" Salazar and Michael Shriver; MJJ mowing employees - Jesus Briones, Cirib Quiroz Salinas, and Luis Ruiz. d.
