LOG NAME: 20EXTEND TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PARKER HENDERSON ROAD III
SUBJECT
(CD 5) Authorize Continuation of the Temporary Closure of Parker Henderson Road between David Strickland Road and 75 Feet North of
Willow Springs Mobile Home Park Driveway to October 31, 2021 for Construction Purposes
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the continuation of the temporary closure of Parker Henderson Road between David Strickland
Road and 75 feet north of the Willow Springs Mobile Home Park driveway to October 31, 2021 for construction purposes.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) requests extending the closure of Parker Henderson Road from
David Strickland Road to 75 feet north of Willow Springs driveway to October 31, 2021 for the installation of storm drain boxes on Prairie Dog
Creek (City Project No. C01419). The request for this additional extension is due to conflicts with private utilities and weather. Mayor and Council
Communication (M&C 20-0359) authorized the initial road closure.
Parker Henderson Road has been under construction to widen the existing 22 foot wide asphalt roadway at various locations between Mansfield
Highway to Kellis Street. Part of the improvements to the roadway includes the construction of a new culvert crossing over Prairie Dog Creek.
The area of the roadway impacted by this closure is at Prairie Dog Creek. The construction of the retaining walls have been delayed due to the
location of the Willow Springs Mobile Home Community private water and sanitary sewer lines. The utilities will need to be adjusted to clear the
bottom of the retaining walls being constructed on both sides of the driveway. The normal than usual wet weather this summer has also added
delays to the completion of the retaining walls. The majority of Parker Henderson Road remains open to the traveling public. Local residents shall
have access to their properties at all times, and alternate access has been provided to Prairie Dog Park.
Traffic control plans for this project have been previously accepted.
