SUBJECT:
Adopt Ordinance Changing the Name of Bell Spur Road to Bell Helicopter Boulevard from Hurst Boulevard
to Trinity Boulevard (COUNCIL DISTRICT 5)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance changing the name of Bell Spur
Road to Bell Helicopter Boulevard from Hurst Boulevard to Trinity Boulevard.
DISCUSSION:
Bell Helicopter is working on a corporate revitalization effort, which includes new facilities and substantial
renovations at their main campus in Fort Worth. As part of their new headquarters construction, they
would like to request a name change for the street adjacent to their new headquarters location. They
would like to have the name of the street changed to Bell Helicopter Boulevard, so that their address can
be changed to reflect their corporate presence in Fort Worth. A map showing the location of the proposed
street name change is attached as Exhibit A.
The Fire Department supports this street name change request
The Transportation and Public Works Department estimates that the cost for changing and installing a
new street name sign to be paid by Bell Helicopter will be in the amount of $122.50.
Notice of the proposed street name change was sent on August 27, 2012 to adjacent property owners
along both sides of the affected street providing information regarding the proposed street name change.
A copy of the notice is attached as Exhibit B.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 5.
