NORTHWEST COMMUNITY CENTER The 2018 Bond Program Proposition B identified $10,000,000 for design and construction of a new community center in Northwest Fort Worth, with a goal of leveraging City funds through partnerships with other organizations, agencies, municipalities or school districts and creating expanded recreational opportunities. On December 11, 2018 (Resolution No. 5027-12-2018) the City Council directed the City Manager to develop a community center at Northwest Community Park in the amount of $8,000,000. In addition, the City Council directed the City Manager to negotiate with EMSISD and the YMCA for the joint development of a community center/ natatorium/ YMCA facility to provide for an additional City contribution of approximately $2,000,000 in 2018 Bond Program funds. Park & Recreation Department (PARD) staff, working with Property Management Department (PMD) staff, has initiated the project design phase. Estimated project schedule is as follows: March 14, 2019 - Request for Qualifications advertisement April 11, 2019 - Proposal review (18 proposals received) May 15, 2019 - Interviews conducted (3 firms) May 25, 2019 - Consultant selection - Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects (BSW) July 30, 2019 - Engineering Services Agreement executed / Notice To Proceed August 2019 - October 2019 - Programming, schematic design and cost estimating October 2019 - October 2020 — Final design and construction document preparation November 2020 — November 2021- Construction phase The current engineering services agreement with BSW is for programming, schematic design and cost estimating. It is aniticipated that the initial contract will be amended, via M&C in October, to include detailed design and construction administration fees for BSW, which will complete the overall design for the Northwest Community Center.
