rrA SUBJECT: RECENT FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION GRANT AWARDS
The purpose of this informal report is to provide information about recent Federal Aviation
Administration grants awarded to DFW, Alliance, Meacham, and Spinks airports as announced by
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao at DFW Airport on June 24.
DFW Airport will be receiving $23.2 million for the repair and expansion of Taxiway Mike. Alliance
is to receive $5.5 million for the Westside taxiway, which will service the new Amazon Air cargo
facility. The Alliance project is currently being designed and construction is scheduled to be
completed by December 2020.
These grants are part of a $3.2 billion program by the FAA to improve airports across the country.
Last fall, Meacham received $11.0 million for the midfield redevelopment project and Spinks
received $5.8 million for the eastside taxiway project. Both projects are currently underway with
anticipated completion by December 2019.
