DESIGNATING THE CITY OF FORT WORTH AS THE RECIPENT OF FORT WORTH'S 2020 HOMELESS HOUSING AND SERVICES PROGRAM FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is committed to reducing homelessness and adopted Directions Home, a plan to make homelessness rare, short-term and non- recurring, in 2008; WHEREAS, the State of Texas provides Homeless Housing and Services Program ("HHSP") funds administered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs ("TDHCA") to nine municipalities with a population of 285,000 or greater, including the City of Fort Worth; WHEREAS, these HHSP funds may be used to provide rental assistance, case management and other services or housing options that reduce homelessness; WHEREAS, the current designee for these funds is United Way of Tarrant County; WHEREAS, United Way of Tarrant County no longer wishes to receive these funds; WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is eligible to receive funds and already funds the case management for permanent supportive housing clients whose rental assistance is funded through HHSP; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: The City of Fort Worth will be the recipient of the City's 2020 State of Texas Homeless Housing and Services Program funds from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Fernando Costa, assistant city manager, is authorized to represent the City of Fort Worth to enter into a contract with Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
