Authorize Execution of a Contract with Omega Contracting, Inc, in the Amount of $738,771.50 for Concrete Street Restoration along Various
Streets. (COUNCIL DISTRICTS 2,4,5,E and 9)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of a contract with Omega Construction, Inc, in the amount of $738,771.50 for 2020
Concrete Restoration Contract 2 along various streets.
DISCUSSION:
In the Fiscal Year 2020 Pay -Go Contract Street Maintenance Program, various types of street maintenance are grouped into specific contract
packages. The 2020 Concrete Restoration Contract 2 contract provides for the repair and reconstruction of failed concrete pavement
along Hardeman Trail (Miller Avenue to Burke Road), Mark IV Parkway (E loop 820 to Cantrell Sansom Road), Martin Street (Shackleford Street
to Trentman Street), Meacham Boulevard (Pylon Street to Blue Mound Road) , Sunset Trace Drive (Latrobe Trace way to Trace ridge Parkway)
and Wheaton Drive (Wedgmont Circle North to Walton Avenue)(City Project No. 102106).
Construction for this project is expected to start approximately November 2019 and to be completed by approximately July 2020. Upon
completion of the project there will be no anticipated impact on the general fund operating budget.
This project was advertised for bid on June 21, 2019 and June 28, 2019 in the Fort Worth Star -Telegram. On July 19, 2019, the following bids
were received:
OMEGA CONTRACTING INC $738,771.50
MAKOU INC $742,795.00
URBAN INFRACONSTRUCTION $795,330.00
ILC
ARREGUIN GROUP INC $872,464.00
M/WBE OFFICE — Omega Contracting, Inc. is in compliance with the City's DBE Program by committing to 18% MBE participation on this
project. The City's MBE goal on this project is 15%. Additionally, Omega Contracting, Inc. is a certified M/WBE firm
The City reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities of individual pay items within the contract provided that the total contract amount
remains within plus or minus 25 percent of the contract award.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICTS 2,4,5,E and 9.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that funds will be available contingent on the approval of the Fiscal Year 2020 capital budget appropriation of
the General Capital Projects Fund. Funding is anticipated to be available shortly after October 1, 2019. Prior to any expenditure being incurred,
the Transportation and Public Works Department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds.
