Authorize the Temporary Closure of Joel East Road between Oak Grove Road and Wichita Street from December 11, 2019 through April 30, 2020
for Complete Reconstruction (COUNCIL DISTRICT 8)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that City Council authorize the temporary closure of Joel East Road between Oak Grove Road and Wichita Street from
December 11, 2019 through April 30, 2020 for complete roadway reconstruction.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department (TPW) requests the closure of Joel East Road between Oak Grove Road and
Wichita Street from December 11, 2019 through April 30, 2020 on behalf of the Developer, Rob Riner Companies GP, LLC, (CFA18-0186, CSC
52710) for complete roadway reconstruction based on Developer's Contractor's project schedule (City Project No. 101903). Presently this
section of Joel East Road is a 20-foot wide asphalt roadway. The proposed scope of work is to demolish all existing pavement, remove and
replace existing storm drain lines with reinforced concrete pipe and storm boxes and reconstruct Joel East Road with reinforced concrete paving.
Due to the scope of work and the impact of large equipment needed to do this work and in the interests of project expediency and public safety
this closure is requested.
This closure request is anticipated to have minimal impact to roadway users as an alternate route has been identified via Oak Grove Road, Enon
Avenue, and Wichita Street. Property directly abutting Joel East Road between Oak Grove Road and Wichita Street is largely unimproved;
however, access is available via the detour route.
Traffic control plans for this project have been accepted.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies this action will have no material effect on City funds.
