Criminalizing a homeless person's presence is wrong. Fining
people who can't afford to pay the fines helps no one, but more
important, it targets people who are already vulnerable.
Reducing homelessness is a complex issue, requiring increased
housing, social, addiction and health and mental health services.
Instead of fining the poor, council should focus on supporting
those real solutions.

I have worked with homeless many years and have seen the
situation up close. You cannot justly and arbitrarily make an
ordinance to criminalize homelessness. You cannot simply say
"we have no solution, so we will just make it against the law".
This group is already marginalized as it is.

Please do not pass this ordinance. It will only make it harder for
our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness to find jobs
and housing. Criminalizing homelessness is never the answer.
What needs to be done is raising wages and lowering housing
costs.

Please do NOT create an ordinance that will criminalize being
down enough on your luck that you have to "camp" outdoors.
No one WANTS to be homeless; they are brought to it by
poverty, mental illness, addiction, etc. Let us take care of "the
least of these," not kick them when they are down.

Please do not add further criminal penalties to the burdens of
being homeless. Let's seek other ways to protect property rights
and create sound neighborhoods.

I strongly oppose this measure. It doesn't solve the problem and
creates and extra burden to those living through hard times.
This ordinance only kicks those that have fallen. Fines and
criminal records would do nothing but hinder the chances of
people to come out of their homelessness

I DO NOT support the proposition before the city council to
prevent homeless camping on private property without written
permission of the property owner. To criminalize homelessness
to such an extent as fines are levied only increases the burden
of the citizen and does nothing to protect land owner

As someone who has a family member living in the homeless
crisis in this city and nation has, I am so concerned by this
proposal. Increasing criminality and monetary penalties will do
nothing except make it harder for my family member to
overcome his circumstances.

I received my Master's degree in Social Work and have been a
licensed social worker for about ten years. Additional funding is
needed to help organizations that are addressing homelessness.
A punishable fine will not address the real issue that exists in
Fort Worth. Let's love and help, not punish.

I participate in efforts to help the homeless —Room in the Inn as
part of our church, Project ID to help homeless get a state ID
card, and with Palm Tree Apartments. Making punishment more
severe will only make it harder to rise from homelessness. Get
creative about solving this problem. It's hard!!

This is very inappropriate; instead of penalizing people for not
having stable housing, how about the city address the issue of
affordable housing and stability? Do not approve this.
