HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 16802-01-2006Ordinance Nn.16~p2-o1-2Q06 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 16797-0~- 2006 ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH ON MAY 13, 2006, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER FOR CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 4 TO SERVE TIIE REMAINDER OF AN UNEXPIRED TERM TO CHANGE THE FILING DATES FOR A CANDIDATE AND T® INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL EARLY VOTING LOCATION. WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinance Na. 16797-01-2006 an January 24, 2006 ordering a special electian be held an May 13, 2006, for the purpose of electing a City Council rnernber for City Council District 4 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term; WHEREAS, Ordinance l`~To. 16797-01-2006 contains the incorrect filing dates for a place on the ballot for Council District 4; WHEREAS, the earrect filing dates for a candidate to file a place an the special electian ballot are February 5, 2006 through 5:00 p.m. on March 7, 2006; WHEREAS, in addition to correcting the filing dates far a candidate for council District 4, the city desires to add an additional early voting location in Council District 4. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED 8Y TH(E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, 'TEXAS: SECTION I. The City Council hereby orders that a special election be held on Saturday, May 1.3, 2006, at which all qualified voters of City Council District ~ may vote far the purpose of electing a council member from District 4 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term until the regular City Council electian in May 2007. SECTTON 2. Candidates may file an application for a place on the special election ballot commencing upon February 5, 2006, in the City Secretary's Office, located in the Municipal Building, 1000 Throckmorton, Fort Worth, Texas. The filing deadline is 5:00 p.m. on March 7, 2006. SECTIOl®13. (a) Gayle Hamilton, Tarrant County Elections Administrator, shall serve as the early voting clerk. Gayle Hamilton's official mailing address is: Gayle Hamilton, Tarrant County Elections Administrator 2700 Premier Street Fort Worth, Texas7G 111 (b) Marty Hendrix, City Secretary of the City of Fort Worth, shall serve as chief deputy early voting clerk. (c) Applications for ballots by mail shall be mailed to Gayle Hamilton at the address set ouC in subsection (a}. Applications for ballot by mail must be received no later than the close of business on May S, 2006. SECTI<Ol~l ~.
