SUBJECT: BUILDING SANITIZING
rrA
rea
From the very beginning of our response to the current health crisis, our janitorial staff has increased both
the areas that they clean and the ftequency at which they clean them. They have put continual focus on all
high -touch areas as well. PMD has also enlisted the help of several contractors to supplement our staff and
have had continued success in fending off any reoccurrence of sickness in all buildings where personnel
have fallen sick with the virus. Many of our current service intervals and contracts have been increased to
help us in this effort. No one has had a follow up case of the virus from the workplace.
One key element of this fight has been the use of sanitizing foggers and misters that are deployed by our
contractors in all areas of concern to eliminate all biological hazards. These tools have been deployed on
56 separate occasions in all closed buildings, in City Hall, Hazel Harvey Peace, Gordon Swift, North
Service Center, Meacham Airport, Convention Center, South Service Center, all police stations that have
identified officers with the virus, and other areas of concern. To date the cost of this additional cleaning
and sanitation work has reached almost $100,000. These efforts have been effective in sanitizing work
areas for the remaining workforce as is evidenced by the lack of follow-on cases.
Our facility staff has also placed an additional 85 sanitizing gel dispensers across the city in numerous
buildings in order to encourage visitors and staff to maintain proper hand cleansing directives. This was in
addition to the 35 we had already been put in place across the building inventory.
As we work to put more buildings back in service, we will continue to deploy our increase sanitizing
service and increase the janitorial level of effort to keep things clean and safe. We will also continue to
react to situations were virus has been identified to continue to keep the spread as low as possible.
