HomeMy WebLinkAbout(0003) IR 20-10417 - CCPD Continuation Election Awareness EffortsINFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 20-10417 PRTEA To the Mayor and Members of the City Council June 2, 2020 r$ Page 1 rrA SUBJECT: CCPD CONTINUATION ELECTION — AWARENESS EFFORTS The purpose of this report is to provide information about the efforts being made to ensure Fort Worth residents are aware of the revised date for the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) continuation election, which was rescheduled from May. Election Day for the CCPD continuation election is July 14, 2020. Early voting is between June 29 and July 10. Staff will be presenting a virtual Q&A meeting to address questions and using a combination of other efforts to make the public aware of the new dates for the election day and early voting. The continuation election virtual Q&A meeting will be a pre-recorded presentation by Police Chief Ed Kraus where he will answer questions submitted by the community about CCPD programs and the election. Questions can be submitted by email to CCPDkfortworthtexas. og_v or by phone at (817) 392-4040 through June 5. The meeting will be available to view on the City Cable Channel, City website and social media platforms on June 12. A City News article was published on May 22 asking the community to submit their questions. The meeting information and the request for the community's questions is posted on City of Fort Worth and Police Department websites and social media platforms. Several questions have been received to date. Staff has also prepared a variety of CCPD informational and educational materials.
