DISCUSSION: In collaboration with the City of Roanoke, the municipality adjacent to the northeast, the City of Fort Worth is working to balance multimodal transportation safety and maintain access for the industrial uses along the corridor. The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to amend the City Ordinance to reflect a 35 miles per hour (mph) posted speed along Litsey Road from North Beach Street to the Fort Worth City limits. The City's Master Thoroughfare Plan designates Litsey Road from North Beach Street to Cleveland Gibbs Road as a commercial connector and Litsey Road from Cleveland Gibbs Road to the east City limits as a neighborhood connector. In April 2019, the City adopted the Transportation Engineering Manual to guide the design of roadways and set speed limits. The target speed range for commercial and neighborhood connectors is 30-35 mph. Once the attached ordinance is approved, the City will publish a notice of the ordinance so that enforcement may commence. This M&C corrects M&C 20-0716 which adopted an ordinance inadvertently establishing an incorrect speed limit. A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Director of Finance certifies that approval of this recommendation will have no material effect on City funds. Submitted for City Manager's Office W.
