LOG NAME: 3636ADOPT TARRANT COUNTY HAZARD MITIGATION ACTION PLAN
SUBJECT
Adopt Resolution Approving the Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, January 2020 (ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving the Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, January 2020.
DISCUSSION:
The Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, January 2020 (Plan) fulfills the requirements of the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act as
administered by the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Adoption of the Plan
is required in order for the City of Fort Worth (City) to remain eligible for FEMA Disaster Mitigation Grant funds. The Plan covers the City,
unincorporated Tarrant County, 23 other cities in Tarrant County and DFW Airport.
The Plan identifies hazards faced by our community, vulnerabilities to the hazards and mitigation strategies to address the hazards. Once the Plan
is adopted, the City can pursue FEMA Disaster Mitigation Grant funds for projects identified in the Plan. The City is required to review the Plan
annually and revise the Plan every five years. The Plan replaces the Plan that the Council adopted on July 28, 2015.
A copy of the plan will be available at http://fortworthtexas.gov/emo/ or upon request by contact the Fort Worth Emergency Management Office.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that this action will have no material effect on City Funds.
