HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020/11/17-Attachments-M&C 20-0851City of Fort Worth, Mayor and Texas Council Communication DATE: 11/17/20 M&C FILE NUMBER: M&C 20-0851 LOG NAME: 202020 HIGHLAND HILLS CONCRETE REHABILITATION SUBJECT (CD 7, CD 8, and CD 9) Authorize Execution of a Contract with Makou Inc., in the Amount of $989,095.00 for the 2020 Highland Hills, Monticello, and Jessamine Concrete Street Rehabilitation Project RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of a contract with Makou Inc., in the amount of $989,095.00 for 2020 Highland Hills, Monticello, and Jessamine Concrete Rehabilitation project (City Project No. 102540). DISCUSSION: In the Fiscal Year 2020 Pay -Go Contract Street Maintenance Program, various types of street maintenance are grouped into specific contract packages. The recommended construction contract outlined in this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) will provide concrete rehabilitation (curb & gutter, sidewalk, and curb ramps) for twenty five street segments in the Highland Hills and Monticello Neighborhoods under the Contract Street Maintenance Program, as identified in the attached project maps (City Project No. 102540). Construction for this project is expected to start in early 2021 and to be completed by summer 2021. Upon completion of the project there will be no anticipated impact on the general fund operating budget. This project was advertised for bid on July 23, 2020 and July 30, 2020 in the Fort Worth Star -Telegram. On August 27, 2020, the following bids were received: Bidders I Amount Makou Inc. $989,095.00 Ti-Zack Concrete Inc. $1,082,572.50 Cam - Crete Contracting Inc. $1,269,064.00 Urban Infraconstruction, LLC $1,385,015.00 FNH Construction $1,390,570.00 Westhill Construction, Inc. 7L$1,461,455.00 M.W. Panel Tech 11$1,488, 550.00 M/WBE OFFICE — Makou Inc. is in compliance with the City's BIDE Ordinance by committing to 10% MBE participation on this project. The City's MBE goal on this project is 10%. Additionally Makou Inc. is a certified M/WBE firm. The City reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities of individual pay items within the contract provided that the total contract amount remains within plus or minus 25% of the contract award. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICTS 7, 8, and 9. FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Director of Finance certifies that funds are available in the current capital budget, as previously appropriated, in the General Capital Projects Fund for the 2020 Highland Hills Conc Rehab project to support the approval of the above recommendation and execution of the contract. Prior to any expenditure being incurred, the Transportation and Public Works Department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds. Submitted for City Manager's Office bT.
