Adopt an ordinance to rename "Bridge to Bridgewood/IH30" between Bridge Street and Bridgewood Drive to Dairy Lane; 2. Waive the application fee and street sign replacement fees in the amount of $2,645.00; and 3. Authorize staff to submit the street name ordinance to TxDOT for acceptance in accordance with the TxDOT name change policy. DISCUSSION: A request was received by City Council District 4 to change the name of "Bridge to Bridgewood" to Dairy Lane in order to provide a name for this street connection and to eliminate confusion for the general public and emergency services. The name suggestion of Dairy Lane was based on the historical reference to the area of Brentwood Stair Road north to Randol Mill Road (or further west, the Trinity River), from Oakland Boulevard to East Loop 820 which was a 2,500 acre dairy from 1918 to 1960 called White Lake Dairy. White Lake Dairy was an economic driver in Meadowbrook. The remnants of the main operations of the dairy include a silo behind the Waffle House on Oakland, the small water tower north of East First Street (milking barn #2), and the National Farm Life sits on the site of milking barn #3. There are no properties affected by the proposed name change as all adjacent properties are addressed from other streets. The proposed name change would encompass the entirety of Bridge to Bridgewood and upon approval of the City Council Ordinance, notice will be sent to TxDOT for compliance with the street name policy for streets adjacent to TxDOT facilities. The proposed street name signage change will be occur 30 days after City Council adoption of the Ordinance. A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Director of Finance certifies that approval of these recommendations will have no material effect on City funds. Submitted for City Manager's Office by.
