HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021/03/02-Attachments-M&C 21-0144City of Fort Worth, Mayor and Texas Council Communication DATE: 03/02/21 M&C FILE NUMBER: M&C 21-0144 LOG NAME: 2020 NORTH BEACH STREET AND BASSWOOD BOULEVARD SUBJECT (CD 4) Authorize Execution of a Contract with McClendon Construction Company, Inc. in the Amount of $1,537,331.40 for Construction of Paving, Traffic Signal and Illumination Improvements for North Beach Street and Basswood Boulevard (2018 Bond Program) RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of a contract with McClendon Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $1,537,331.40 for construction of the paving, traffic signal, and illumination improvements for North Beach Street and Basswood Boulevard project (City Project No. 101582). DISCUSSION: This Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to authorize a construction contract for construction of paving, traffic signal, and illumination improvements for North Beach Street and Basswood Boulevard. The construction contract will be funded using 2018 Bond Program Fund and Impact Fee available in the project (City Project No. 101582). The project was advertised for bid on December 10, 2020 and December 17, 2020 in the Fort Worth Star -Telegram. On January 7, 2021, the following bids were received: Bidders Amount Time of Completion McClendon Construction Company, Inc. $1,537,331.40 252 Days Pavecon Public Works, LP $1,576,475.87 Rebcon, Inc. $1,592,802.90 The Fain Group, Inc. $1,710,100.2511 Fort Worth Civil Constructors, LLC =1 $1,777,497.00 This project will have no impact on the Transportation and Public Works annual operation budget when completed. Construction is expected to start in May 2021. This project is included in the 2018 Bond Program. Available resources within the General Fund will be used to provide interim financing until debt is issued. Once debt associated with the project is sold, bond proceeds will reimburse the General Fund in accordance with the statement expressing official Intent to Reimburse that was adopted as part of the ordinance canvassing the bond election (Ordinance Nos. 23209-05-2018) and subsequent actions taken by the Mayor and Council. M/WBE Office: McClendon Construction Company, Inc. is in compliance with the City's BDE Ordinance by committing to 6% MBE participation on this project. The City's MBE goal on this project is 6%. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 4 FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Director of Finance certifies that funds are available in the current capital budget, as previously appropriated, in the Transportation Impact Fee Cap Fund and the 2018 Bond Program Fund for the Beach St & Basswood Blvd project to support the approval of the above recommendation and execution of the contract. Prior to any expenditure being incurred, the Transportation and Public Works Department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds. Submitted for City Manager's Office by.
