EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF PROPOSED PROJECTS TO BE SUBMITTED TO
TARRANT COUNTY AS A PART OF THE PLANNED 2021 TARRANT
COUNTY BOND PROGRAM AND THE CITY OF FORT WORTH'S INTENT
TO BE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS SHARE OF FUNDING
OBLIGATIONS
WHEREAS, Tarrant County is proposing a $400 Million Transportation Bond Program to be
placed before voters in November 2021 ("County Bond Program"), and
WHEREAS, Tarrant County issued a Call for Projects requesting local municipalities to submit
transportation projects for consideration for funding as part of the County Bond Program, and
WHEREAS, the County Bond Program 50 percent matching program indicated the County will
consider projects from local municipalities for funding on a 50 percent matching basis; and
WHEREAS, the County Bond Program 50 percent matching program requires a resolution from
the City Council supporting the proposed projects and certifying the local funding commitment
with a description of the proposed funding plan; and
WHEREAS, staff has undertaken an extensive review and prepared a list of proposed projects
that include arterials, intersections, and traffic signals that were determined to be of highest priority
based on a variety of factors including condition, pedestrian and motorist safety, and equity; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth wishes to formally express its support for
the City's proposed projects for the Tarrant County 2021 Bond Program and its commitment to
providing City funding, with the understanding that such funding is contingent on the projects'
inclusion in the County Bond Program, successful passage of that program, and required voter
approval for the City's 2022 Bond Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
1. That in response to the Tarrant County 2021 Transportation Bond Program Call
for Projects, the City of Fort Worth hereby expresses its support for the projects listed
herein and requests Tarrant County to consider them for the County/City 50 percent
cost share portion of the Tarrant County 2021 Transportation Bond Program; and
2. That the City of Fort Worth is committed to participate with its 50 percent funding
share and committed to provide interim financing up to the amount of
$358,900,000.00 with such commitment conditioned on the listed projects being
included in a voter -approved Tarrant County 2021 Bond Program and with the City
contribution including $131,120,000.00 in anticipated 2022 bond funds that are
subject to required voter approval.
