HomeMy WebLinkAbout(0012) M&C 21-0557City of Fort Worth, Texas Mayor and Council Communication DATE: 08/10/21 M&C FILE NUMBER: M&C 21-0557 LOG NAME: 25HARVESTFEST2021 SUBJECT (CD 9) Approve Request of Harvest Ministries International Inc. for Temporary Street Closure of Main Street from 8th Street to 9th Street from October 14, 2021 through October 18, 2021 to Accommodate the 2021 Fort Worth Gospel Festival RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the temporary street closure of Main Street from 8th Street to 9th Street from October 14, 2021 through October 18, 2021 to accommodate the 2021 Fort Worth Gospel Festival. DISCUSSION: Harvest Ministries International Inc. has applied for a Special Event permit for the 2021 Fort Worth Gospel Festival on Friday October 15, 2021 through October 17, 2021, with set-up on October 14, 2021 and tear -down on Monday October 18, 2021. The street closure is to accommodate the production of the outdoor event. Harvest Ministries International Inc., will provide public notification of the event and will work to mitigate impacts to adjacent businesses and events at the convention center. This request requires City Council approval since it exceeds the three day time limit for administrative approval of street closures as stated in the Traffic Engineering Design Standards and Policy Guidelines. The Policy was designed to keep the City Council informed of major street closures in the City. As provided by the Outdoor Events Ordinance, this request has been reviewed by the Events Calendar Committee and Pre -Event Committee. The review process included consideration of the impact of the lane and street closures; and with approval of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C), the outdoor events permit will be issued. A Traffic Control Plan and Detour Route has been approved. The Public Events Department and Transportation and Public Works Department have reviewed and concur with this request. Details of the street closure are attached to this Mayor and Council Communication. This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
