DISCUSSION: The City of Fort Worth has experienced significant growth, resulting in increased vehicle traffic due to more residents and visitors engaging in business and leisure activities throughout the City. Promoting public safety on streets by enhancing the orderly and unobstructed flow of motor vehicle traffic is imperative. This is especially true for the West 7th Entertainment District. Therefore, it is advisable to amend Chapter 22 of the Fort Worth Code of Ordinances to address the flow of motor vehicle traffic within the West 7th Entertainment District. The definition of "Cruising" is to operate a motor vehicle, or to permit the operation of a motor vehicle under one's care, custody or control, so as to pass the same traffic control point within a no cruising zone three times within any two-hour period. The "No Cruising Zones" are the areas bounded by and include specific streets or portions of streets within the City. Currently the West 7th Entertainment District is not included in the definition of a "No Cruising Zone." Adoption of this ordinance will amend the City's current definition of "No Cruising Zones" to include the West 7th Entertainment District. Anyone who violates the provisions of this oridinance shall be fined no more than $500.00 for each offense. Each day that a violation exists will constitute a seperate offense. A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Director of Finance certifies that approval of this recommendations will have no material effect on City funds. Submitted for City Manager's Office by.
