DISCUSSION: In 2019, the Fort Worth Fire Department joined the Fort Worth Police Department's HOPE team to better assist in providing medical care to the homeless populations along and near the East Lancaster Corridor. The volume of emergency medical services calls in East Lancaster reached a level that affected support and readiness functions at nearby stations including Fire Stations 2, 5, and 14. The Fort Worth Fire Department's participation in the HOPE team helped reduce the road mile costs of responses as compared to the use of regular fire apparatus. It also has helped to better tailor the needs of the homeless population in terms of public safety as well as social services. Mr. Jamie Casion became aware of the HOPE Team's mission and coordinated with a group of other private donors to provide a utility vehicle for use by the team to more effectively and expediently serve the needs of Fort Worth's homeless population. This vehicle is valued at $12,875.00 and has been secured by the donors from Arlington Motorsports. The maintenance for this equipment will be the responsibility of the City of Fort Worth Fire Department. The HOPE Team and this equipment benefit ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS. A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
