RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of an amendment to City Secretary Contract 48139, A lease agreement with West
Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, to add three (3) additional one-year renewal terms for space located at 5335 Bonnell Avenue, Fort
Worth, Texas 76107 used as a police storefront by the Fort Worth Police Department.
DISCUSSION:
On March 3, 2009, in Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) C23373, the City Council approved the execution of a lease with West Mount
Moriah Missionary Baptist Church for space located at 5335 Bonnell Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76107 to be used by the Fort Worth Police
Department as a police storefront. The lease was effective March 26, 2009 and expired on November 30, 2015, but continued on a month -to -
month basis until September 30, 2016 with rent of $4,800.00 per year (City Secretary Contract No. 38363).
On August 23, 2016, City Council approved the execution of a new lease with West Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church for continued use of
the space (M&C L-15941). The lease was effective October 1, 2016 and allowed for four (4) one-year renewal terms, the last of which will expire
on September 30, 2021 for a total cost of $33,300.00 (City Secretary Contract No. 48139).
The City and West Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church have agreed to amend the lease to add three (3) additional one-year renewal terms,
the first additional renewal beginning October 1, 2021 and the last to potentially expire September 30, 2024 at a cost of $600.00 per month, for a
potential total cost of $21,600.00 for the duration of the lease renewal terms.
Each renewal term shall be contingent upon approval of Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) funds
This property is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 3.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation and adoption of the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget by the City
Council, funds will be available in the Fiscal Year 2022 operating budget, as appropriated, in the Crime Control & Prev Distr Fund. Prior to an
expenditure being incurred, the Police Department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds.
