HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5494-11-2021A Resolution NO. 5494-11-2021 CASTING THE CITY OF FORT WORTH'S ALLOTTED VOTES FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT AND DIRECTING GIVING OF NOTICE WHEREAS, the Texas Property Tax Code requires the creation of a tax appraisal district in each county in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, an appraisal district is governed by a board of directors appointed by vote of the governing bodies of the taxing units that participate in the district; and WHEREAS, directors serve two-year terms commencing on January 1 of even - numbered years; and WHEREAS, each governing body must determine its votes by resolution and submit the resolution to the district's chief appraiser; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to elect candidates as directors of the Tarrant Appraisal District Board for the two-year term commencing January 1, 2022; and WHEREAS, Section 6.03 (k-1) of the Texas Tax Code requires a taxing unit that is entitled to cast at least five percent of the total votes in a district must determine its votes "at the first or second open meeting of the governing body" held after the chief appraiser delivers the ballot to the presiding officer and must submit its vote "not later than the third day following" adoption of the resolution; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is entitled to cast at least five percent of the total votes for the Tarrant Appraisal District Board; and WHEREAS, the meeting at which this resolution is scheduled for consideration and vote complies with the timing specified in Section 6.03(k-1). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS THAT: 1. The City of Fort Worth's 600 allotted votes be and are hereby cast for candidate Jungus Jordan for director of the Tarrant Appraisal District. 2. It is directed that the City's vote be submitted to the chief appraiser no later than Friday November 5, 2021. Adopted this 2nd day of November 2021. ATTEST: By: Ronald P.
