HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 16942-05-2006Ordinance No. 16942-05-2406 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS iN THE GRANTS FUND iN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000, SUBJECT TO AWARD OF THE GRANT FROM THE FIREMAN'S FUND HERITAGE GRANT PROGRAM, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE LEARN NOT TO BURN PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE lT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments far Fiscal Year 2045- 2006 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of $5,000, subject to award of the grant from the Fireman's Fund Heritage Grant Program, far the purpose of funding the Learn Not To Burn program. SECTION 2. Tha# should any porkion, section or part of a sectian of this ardinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ardinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 16582 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressiy repealed. SECTION 4 This ordinance snail take effect upon adoption. Approve a grant application in the amount of $5,000.00 by the City Manager an March 22, 2006, for a grant from the Fireman's Fund Heritage Grant Program, accept if awarded, and execute the grant agreement; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by $5,000, subject to award of the grant. DISCUSSION: The Fireman's Fund Heritage Grant is a program funded and administered by the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company. The company has been inexistence for aver 140 years, and in 2004 began awarding grants to fire departments to fund equipment purchases, public safety initiatives, firefighter training, and other projects. The Department recently submitted an application for a grant in the amount of $5,000, which would be used to fund public safety activities targeting public school children in Fort Worth (specifically the Learn Not to Burn Program). There is na match required for this grant. FISCAL INFORMATIDNICERTIFICATION: The Finance IOirectar certifies that upon award and receipt of the grant, approval of the above recommendations, and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of the Grants Fund.
