The purpose of this Informal Report is to provide an update on the 2021 Mayor's Neighborhood
Workshops and Awards. This annual event allows the city to provide training for our neighborhood
leaders and also recognize the outstanding work done by our neighborhoods. The Fort Worth
Neighborhood Awards were established in 2003 to encourage and recognize outstanding neighborhood
participation and projects.
Workshops
Due to continuing COVID concerns, we did a survey of all neighborhoods to determine their willingness to
attend workshops and an awards luncheon. Based on the responses and the current staffing vacancies in
the Community Engagement Office, the decision was made to hold the luncheon in February and
postpone the workshops until Spring 2022.
Neighborhood Outreach
The Community Engagement team is emailing or calling registered neighborhood association leaders
directly to encourage participation. The team is also sharing flyers at neighborhood meetings and events
such as National Night Out. The team hosted six "In It to Win It" trainings to give neighbors detailed
guidelines and tips for filling out nomination forms. These trainings were held virtually and in-person.
Awards Luncheon
Applications are currently posted online, and the deadline for submitting nominations is 5 p.m. Thursday,
Dec. 16.
Award categories include six group awards and four individual awards:
