HomeMy WebLinkAbout(0110) RESOLUTION - Nominating Candidates for Tarrant Appraisal District Board of DirectorsA Resolution m NOMINATING CANDIDATES FOR TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS WHEREAS, the Texas Property Tax Code requires the creation of an appraisal district in each county in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, an appraisal district is governed by a board of directors who serve two-year terms commencing on January 1 of even -numbered years; and WHEREAS, in order to serve on the Board, an individual must be a resident of the district and must have resided in the district for at least two years immediately prior to taking office; and WHEREAS, each taxing unit that is entitled to vote may nominate by resolution adopted by its governing body one candidate for each Board position to be filled; and WHEREAS, the presiding officer of the governing body of a taxing unit is required to submit the names of the unit's nominees to the chief appraiser before October 15; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is entitled to vote for members of the Board of Directors and wishes to nominate qualified candidates for Board positions to be filled. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT: 1. The City Council of the City of Fort Worth officially nominates Jungus Jordan as a candidate to fill a position on the Board of Directors of the Tarrant Appraisal District; and 2. The City Secretary's Office is hereby directed, on behalf of the Mayor as presiding officer, to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Jeff Law, Chief Appraiser, Tarrant Appraisal District, Fort Worth, Texas before October 15, 2021.
