ADOPTING THE FIVE-YEAR UPDATE TO THE FORT WORTH FLOODPLAIN
MANAGEMENT PLAN AND
AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO INCORPORATE THE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE FIVE-YEAR UPDATE BY REFERENCE
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth recognizes the threat that flood hazards pose to
people and property within the City; and
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth participates in the Federal Emergency
Management Agency's Community Rating System in order to reduce the financial burden
of flood insurance upon affected residents; and
WHEREAS a flood hazard mitigation plan is required for participation in the
Community Rating System; and
WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth has prepared a flood hazard mitigation plan,
hereby known as Fort Worth Floodplain Management Plan; and
WHEREAS the Fort Worth Floodplain Management Plan identifies repetitive loss
areas, mitigation goals and actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and
property in Fort Worth from the impacts of flood hazards; and
WHEREAS development of both the Floodplain Management Plan and the Five -
Year Update were prepared with extensive public and stakeholder group involvement
following the Federal Emergency Management Agency 10-Step Public Planning Process;
and
WHEREAS the potential Mitigation Actions identified in 2016 have been reviewed
and updated for relevance to overall Stormwater Management Program priorities and goals;
and
WHEREAS adoption by the City of Fort Worth demonstrates our commitment to
flood hazard mitigation and achieving the goals outlined in the Fort Worth Floodplain
Management Plan, as revised with the Five -Year Update.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
1. THAT the 2021 Five -Year Updates for the Fort Worth Floodplain Management
Plan are hereby adopted; and
2. THAT the Comprehensive Plan is hereby amended to incorporate the 2021
Five -Year Updates for the Floodplain Management Plan by reference.
