Lone Star Legacy Park Criteria:
• Holds special prominence in the local community and the state
• Endured the test of time
• Iconic to those who have visited, played and rested on its grounds
• A minimum of 50 years old and meet criteria such as
• Association with historic events
• Impact to culture & heritage
• Unique natural features
Lone Star Legacy Parks:
• 62 total since inception in 2012
• 8 awarded in 2021
• 6 Fort Worth Parks now designated (almost 10% of all awarded):
• Fort Worth Botanic Garden (2012)
• Fort Worth Nature Center &Refuge (2016)
• Tandy Hills Natural Area (2017)
• Trinity Park (2019)
• Marine Park (2020)

Ceremonial "log chopping" by then Park Board chair Dr.
Robert "Bobby" Brown. In addition to being a DFW
cardiologist, over his lifetime Brown was a New York Yankees'
3rd baseman who appeared in four World Series, a decorated
veteran of two wars, and president of the American League.
