LOG NAME: 21 PMD VETERANS DAY LICENSE AGREEMENT
SUBJECT
(CD 9) Authorize Execution a Non -Exclusive Parking Space License Agreement with Tarrant County Veterans Council Allowing for a One Day
License of Surface Level Parking at the Corner of 5th Street and Forest Park Boulevard on the Northwest Side of the Future City Hall Building on
November 11, 2021 for Spectators to View the Tarrant County Veteran's Day Parade and Find that the Conveyance of License Agreement Serves
a Public Purpose
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Authorize execution a non-exclusive parking space license agreement with Tarrant County Veterans Council, allowing for the one day license of
surface level parking at the corner of 5th Street and Forest Park Boulevard on the northwest side of the future City Hall building on November 11,
2021 for spectators to view the Tarrant County Veteran's Day Parade; and
2. Find that the conveyance of a license agreement serves a public purpose by opening up additional space for the public to enjoy the Tarrant
County Veteran's Day Parade.
DISCUSSION:
This will be the 102nd annual Veterans Day observance in Fort Worth. As with the years before, the parade is organized by the Tarrant County
Veterans Council (Veteran's Council). Hundreds of veterans groups, civic and business organizations take part in the salute to veterans each year.
Acknowledging the pandemic, this year's parade will also honor first responders from across North Texas. The parade this year will take place on
November 11, 2021.
The Veteran's Council has requested the ability to use the surface lot of the future City Hall Building as a staging area as well as to allow parade
spectators to park and observe the parade at no cost. The Veteran's Council has already received an outdoor event permit through the City of Fort
Worth (City) for the parade.
The Property Management Department is amenable to the non-exclusive short term license agreement and City staff will be present to ensure the
public purpose is carried out.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that approval of these recommendations will have no material effect on City funds.
