2023 for Construction Activities
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the temporary closure of 8th Street between Commerce Street and Calhoun Street from
November 8, 2021 to February 11, 2023 for construction activities.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) requests the temporary closure of 8th Street between Commerce
Street and Calhoun Street to support the construction of two independent projects close in proximity: the construction of the 27-story Deco 969
residence building and the remodeling of the Le Meridien Hotel (formerly the Radisson Hotel).
After the initial 460-day full closure expires on February 11, 2023 Deco 969 is still anticipated to be under construction for an additional timeframe
and 8th Street will be reopened only on the north side of 8th Street at that time between Commerce Street and Calhoun Street.
Access to adjacent residences and parking facilities will be maintained.
Traffic control plans for this project have been accepted.
This closure is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that approval of this recommendation will have no material effect on City funds.
