(CD 7, CD 8, and CD 9) Authorize Change Order No. 2 to Add Four Street Segments to 2020 Highland Hills, Monticello, and Jessamine Concrete
Street Rehabilitation Project with Makou Inc., at No Increase to the Contract Amount
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of Change Order No. 2 to City Secretary Contract No. 55050 with Makou Inc., to add
four street segments at no increase to the contract amount.
DISCUSSION:
On November 17, 2020, by Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) 20-0851, the City Council authorized execution of a contract with Makou
Inc., in the amount of $989,095.00 for 2020 Highland Hills, Monticello, and Jessamine Concrete Rehabilitation project for the concrete
rehabilitation (curb & gutter, sidewalk, and curb ramps) for twenty five street segments in the Highland Hills and Monticello neighborhoods under
the Contract Street Maintenance Program, as identified in the attached project maps (City Project No. 102540).
Change Order No. 2 will increase the scope of the project by adding four street segments in the 2020 Highland Hills, Monticello, and Jessamine
Concrete Street Rehabilitation contract (City Project No. 102540). Due to deteriorating conditions of neighboring streets, it is now recommended
to include these four street segments not in the original project scope as shown in the table below. The value of the contract and the quantity of
work anticipated to be performed is approximately the same as originally contemplated. No additional funding is required for this change order.
Streets Recommended to add to the Contract
Monticello Drive West 5th Street — West 6th Street
Glasgow Road Conroy Street — Oak Grove Road
Bandy Avenue Glasgow Road — Oak Grove Road
Eorothyne
Lenox Drive — West 4th Street
Upon completion of the project, there will be no anticipated impact on the General Fund operating budget.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICTS 7, 8 and 9.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This contract legally does not require City Council approval.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that approval of this recommendation will have no material effect on City funds.
